consulting

As a consultant Paula can give you an objective edit and help you shape a conceptually coherent visual package and direction. By helping you identify your strengths and strongest images, she can facilitate an understanding of your unique identity and give you ideas and direction to develop your artwork, services, or brand.

Why edit? One of the last and most important steps of pulling together a great body of work is to review, edit and sequence your photographs. This crucial review gives direction and identifies both the strengths and weaknesses of any given project and determines our next steps. Through grouping and sequencing images, one can create a rhythm and dialogue between the images and start to form an intention for the final body of work. The goal is to have the work speak for itself.

She can assist with the following:

  • editing, grouping and sequencing images for portfolio, exhibition, or book
  • group images so that their intention is clearly conveyed
  • reviewing web site functionality, design, and ease of use
  • targeting images for marketing promo or show announcements
  • identifying images that have a commercial application for book jackets, illustration, stock or editorial use
  • coaching to prepare materials for a portfolio review event

Sara Jane Boyers – Edited and sequenced images for Sara’s website. www.sarajaneboyersphoto.com In the 2009 I collaborated with her to create “Into the Chinatowns”  a 50 page color promotional magazine using Adobe Indesign for layout, printed and distributed using Mag Cloud. Carmel Zucker – Carmel was having a show in Boulder and she asked me to edit a new body of photographs documenting an organic farm in Colorado. To build a narrative and to show more than one image at a time, I suggested that she present these images as a series of triptychs. They just seem to me to work well together as threes, maybe it was the square format. Here is a selection of groupings that I put together for her to consider. Ewa Monika Zebrowski – Collaborated  with Ewa to create an affordable artist promo of her images to hand out at Fotofest 2010. The edit was pulled from various bodies of work to bridge both the editorial and fine art worlds. After I did the initial edit we worked on the layout, editing and sequencing to create a promo that had a contemporary magazine look and a quiet fine art sensibility. We used Magcloud to print, and Indesign to layout the magazine. EwaMonikaZebrowski_ArtistPromo.pdf To see more of her work http://www.ewazebrowski.com
