Examples of a personal photographic series called Portrait Collages that I started in 1985. I would take two or three C prints up and weave them together and then rephotograph the final piece.
In 2002 I started using Adobe Photoshop to make these more elaborate portrait collages, and the images became more complex – joining, overlapping, and cutting up multiple exposures into one multifaceted image. Some of the images are psychological while others are more straight forward flattering portraits but created to form a non linear assemblage meant to be colorful, fun, and a bit disjointed. Created from 1996 to 2008. This is a link to my artist statement and a essay by writer Carmel McMahon on this body of work. Text: The Portrait Collage Statement & Essay
